Every week starts with loading live trout, salmon or char to head to our plant.
We make their short journey as stress-free as possible. We’re strong advocates for treating animals ethically…. and it has the bonus of making the fish taste so fresh!
- We transport them with higher levels of oxygen in the water than they’re used to, which keeps them calm.
- They travel in very low densities, meaning they have lots of room to move around.
- And they’re only out of the water for less than 15 seconds on the way in and out.
We’re unique in harvesting fish right at the plant, and how fast we get them in the freezer.
Each fish is humanely stunned as they come out of the water. Then they are filleted, deboned, vac-packed and in the blast freezer in less than five hours.
Harvesting them humanely means there is no build up of stress hormones or lactic acid, keeping them firm and fresh.
And freezing them quickly stops them from further breaking down…. giving you the freshest fish directly from your freezer!
