Turbot (Greenland Halibut) – Temporarily Sold Out
Unfortunately our friends in the north have had a difficult time fishing turbot. They had a really short fishing season due to weather conditions, struggled with consistent fisherfolk and processors, and their prime filleter retired. We are hoping to restock soon, but are sold out for now.
Taster pack (2lb) — $42 — TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT
Small box (5lb) — $100 — TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT
Taste: Sumptuously moist and buttery flavour. Similar to Atlantic halibut, with smaller flake and fillet size.
Wild-caught using traditional methods by the Inuit fisherfolk of Pangnirtung, just off the coast of Baffin Island in Nunavut. It’s sourced through the social enterprise First Fish that re-invests profits back into Inuit communities.
Fishers travel across the frozen lakes on snow machines and use only nets and long lines to catch the fish through up to 8 feet of ice, for minimal disturbance to the environment.
All turbot is pinboned and frozen immediately after harvest, and is very rich in omega oils. Fillets are approximately 16 – 22oz (3-4 fillets in a 5lb box).
So fresh it’s frozen. We humanely harvest, fillet, individually vac-pack and freeze within a day. Stays fresh for 6 months. Read reviews
