“We wanted BAP so that we could say with confidence that we were raising fish in the best interest of animal welfare, the environment, our staff and our community.” β RJ Taylor, Springhills Fish
Our eco-certification Best Aquaculture Practices just spotlighted us on their website!
BAP is the international gold standard for sustainability in fish farms.
They send an auditor every year to our farms to see our records, quiz staff, take samples and sometimes even talk to the neighbours!
BAP ensures we’re respecting our fish, the ecosystem and our staff. They have a checklist of 166 things we need to prove, such as..
π are we handling our fish carefully?
π do we store our garbage and fuel safely?
π what’s the quality of water leaving the farm?
π are we using eco-friendly feeds?
π are we keeping enough data so every fish is traceable?
π are our staff trained in proper health and safety? And so on!
If you are going to ask one question about your seafood before buying it, we recommend asking if it’s eco-certified. Then you can have piece of mind it’s safe for your family and the planet!
Thanks BAP for telling our story!
